More than 100 students from five area school districts convened for the 2009 Student Leadership Academy, which was held Nov. 4 at the Lioncrest Inn on the Biltmore Estate. The Academy featured activities aimed at developing students' awareness of the skills necessary to succeed in business careers. Presentations on business etiquette, public speaking, and interviewing skills highlighted morning activities. In the afternoon, students toured areas of Biltmore, and estate representatives gave them information about careers at the world-renowned resort. The event was sponsored by the Regional Articulation in Vocation Education (RAVE) committee, which is composed of representatives from Asheville City Schools, Buncombe County Schools, Madison County Schools, Henderson County Schools, Transylvania County Schools, A-B Tech, and Blue Ridge Community College.
